Wide blue skies and the rolling foothills of the Northern Rockies surround Dawson Creek. The city is also known as the Mile Zero City, as it marks the start of the Alaska Highway, a 2,400 km long highway connecting Alaska and the Yukon to Western Canada and the United States. Dawson Creek has a population of approximately 12,500. It provides primary service to a population of approximately 20,000 and helps serve the larger population of the Peace River Region of 60,000. There are eleven elementary schools, one middle school and one secondary school. The Northern Lights College provides adult education.

Recreation opportunities include a state-of-the-art indoor Aquatic Centre, indoor walking track, gyms, yoga, Pilates, and dance studios, biking trails, golfing, swimming, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, hiking, camping, bird watching, and visiting our numerous parks.
