Kitimat was built in the 1950’s and is one of BC’s youngest coastal communities. Main industries include an aluminum smelter, a pulp and paper mill and a petrochemical manufacturer. Practice Details:

Northern Health is seeking locum physicians to work in the Kitimat General Hospital & Health Centre Emergency Department in Kitimat, British Columbia. Day shifts are 0700 – 1900 (approximately 20-30 patients). Night shifts: 1900 – 0700 (approximately 10 patients).

Services include Emergency, Physiotherapy, Radiology, Laboratory, Diabetes and Chronic Disease management, Outpatient Community Chemotherapy clinic, Regional Orthopedic Centre,

Regional Palliative Care Nurse consultant, Mountainview Lodge - a 36-bed residential and complex care facility, and a Public Health team.

Kitimat is located on the Douglas Channel just a few miles off British Columbia’s inside passage. Outside of work, you can enjoy year-round outdoor recreational opportunities from mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, river/ocean fishing, cross country skiing, and snow shoeing.
