The city is also known as the Mile Zero City, as it marks the start of the Alaska Highway, a 2,400 km long highway connecting Alaska and the Yukon to Western Canada and the United States. Dawson Creek has a population of approximately 12,500. It provides primary service to a population of approximately 20,000 and helps serve the larger population of the Peace River Region of 60,000. We are seeking a Physician (FP/ER) to join our team and provide Emergency Room coverage at Dawson Creek and District Hospital. The Emergency Room sees 22,000+ visits per year and is covered by Family Physicians in the community and one other full-time FP/ER Physician. Hours and shifts are negotiable; office and other hospital work also available.

Dawson Creek and District Hospital is a full service community hospital that provides service to Dawson Creek and surrounding communities. It has 31 acute care beds and 15 regional adult psychiatric beds. Services include:

• 24/7 emergency
• ICU
• Medical and surgical in-patient care
• Diagnostics and Medical imaging with CT
• Orthopedic surgery
• General surgery
• Day surgery
• Respiratory therapy
• Diabetic education
• Cancer care

  • Eligible for The College of Family Physicians of Canada Cert. (CCFP)
  • Emergency Experience - Mandatory Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Mandatory Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) - Mandatory Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) - Desired Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP-EM) Emergency Medicine - Desired
Call Schedule:

Hours of work: 16 to 18 shifts per month (7 hr and 10 hr shifts)
On call requirements: REEF and MOCAP Level 1 for ER

$350,000


RSA Incentives

$20,000 Signing Bonus + Moving Allowance of $9,000 to $15,000 (TBD).
$35,798.40 Annual Flat Fee.
MSP Premium 23.10% .
REEF + MOCAP for ER.
RCME and REAP funding also available.

Rural Emergency Enhancement funding available (REEF) for ER coverage along with Medical On Call Availability Program (MOCAP) funding on top of MSP billings for ER coverage.
Rural Education Action Plan (REAP) funding available.
Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME) funding available.

Moving allowance: $15,000 if moving from outside of Canada; $12,000 if moving within Canada but outside of BC; $9,000 if moving within BC. Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) funding is subject to change without notice.
