Northern Health is seeking to expand the group of Emergency Physicians in the Mills Memorial Hospital Emergency Department in Terrace, BC.
Mills Memorial Hospital (MMH) is a 44 bed, acute care facility, with an average of 24,700 ER visits per year. MMH serves as the referral center for the Pacific Northwest of British Columbia. The state of the art, 560 million dollars new site will be completed by the end of 2024 affording expanded logistics, space and integrated trauma and elective service delivery potential.
The MMH Emergency Department has double coverage between 8am and midnight. The day is divided into 4 shifts, two 8am to 5pm shifts and two 5pm to midnight shifts. Overnight shifts are single coverage from midnight to 8am. Full time employment is approximately 12-14 shifts per month. At 0.5 FTE and 0.75 FTE, this will include approximately 2 and 3 overnights per month, respectively. Scheduling is quite flexible with the opportunity to accommodate vacation requests and other clinical or teaching interests. The FTE component is negotiable, and CCFP-EM is a requirement.
The MMH Emergency Department is very well supported by outstanding specialists and services including Internal Medicine with a 5 bed ICU, General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology and Radiology. We have CT, MRI, and ultrasound on site.
Terrace is proud to support 2 UBC Family Medicine Residents per year as well as 3 Medical Students from the UBC Integrated Community Clerkship program. In addition to teaching, there are opportunities to lead simulations and journal clubs, among other CMEs activities.

Whether it’s mountain biking, skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, paddling, fishing, or trail running, there’s no shortage of outdoor opportunities in Terrace. From spring to fall enjoy an ever growing network of mountain bike trails supported by the Terrace Off Road Cycling Association (TORCA). During the winter, Shames Mountain plays host to an incredibly welcoming and family friendly ski community with backcountry access to endless backcountry terrain.
