Practice Details:

Northern Health is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Physician to join our vibrant medical team in Quesnel, BC, with a focus on geriatric care. This role involves providing comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and care planning for older adults in our community. We are especially interested in candidates who hold a Certificate of Added Competence in Care of the Elderly or have equivalent experience working with seniors. Your expertise will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our aging population.

We understand that flexibility is key to a fulfilling career, which is why we offer adaptable work arrangements. Physicians can choose to work at 0.5 FTE or expand to a full 1.0 FTE by combining geriatric care with other exciting opportunities in the community. These include shifts at the Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC), Family Practice Oncology (with potential funding for training), Emergency Room coverage, Surgical Assists, OAT clinic work (training support available), and short-term community locums. This flexibility allows you to shape your practice to match your interests and lifestyle.

New-to-practice physicians are warmly welcomed and supported through a variety of transition resources to ensure a smooth and enjoyable start. We offer flexible remuneration models, including contract-based payment, to help ease your entry into practice and support your professional goals.

Quesnel Health Services provides medical services to Quesnel and surrounding areas. Health care facilities include GR Baker Memorial Hospital, Dunrovin Park Lodge, Westside Clinic and the Quesnel Primary Care Clinic. GR Baker Memorial Hospital is a full care hospital with 27 Acute Care beds, 4 ICU beds and 5 crisis stabilization beds.

Dunrovin Park Lodge is a 91-bed Intermediate Care residential facility with 19 Special Care beds. It provides respite services and an adult day program. The Quesnel and area palliative care’s hospice care beds are also located in this facility, for a total of 117 beds facility wide.

A new ER/ICU department opened 2023.
