The village has a diverse population of 2,000 residents and serves a surrounding area of approximately 13,000 residents of the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako. With two of the six local First Nations communities located within municipal boundaries, Burns Lake has a strong sense of culture and incredible local talents to showcase. Housing in Burns Lake is very affordable, including lakefront property! There are two K-7 schools, a K-9, a 8-12 and a 10-12 public school within the Lakes District Area. Additionally, there are two Independent Mennonite schools and one College of New Caledonia campus within the community. It is centrally located between Smithers (1.5 hrs) and Prince George (2.5 hours) for ease of access to airports VIA Rail serves Burns Lake year round and stops right in the centre of Burns Lake’s downtown core.
