Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City,” which reflects the large resource base of oil, natural gas, forestry and agriculture. Overlooking the Peace River, the town of Fort St John is located above the Peace River Valley, and serves as the capital of the Peace River district. The population of Fort St. John is over 21,400 but it services an area of approximately 70,000. The community is the hub of the Northeast with a cultural centre and library, theatre, and art space. LONGITUDINAL FAMILY PRACTICE (LFP) PAYMENT MODEL

The Fort St John Family Practice Associates are looking for a family physician to join our youthful, vibrant & supportive group consisting of 5 practices & 6 long-time staff members. You will work in a modern, fully furnished, well-established, privately-owned clinic. Each physician has their own office, 2 exam rooms and a shared procedure room. We have an in-house NP, LPN's, dietitian, social worker, mental health, respiratory therapist, pharmacist and home care support to provide team-based care together.

Our clinic uses Longitudinal Family Practice (LFP) Payment Model. EMR system MOIS. Clinic is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and provides a reasonable split between in person and virtual health consultations. Overhead is payable on a monthly equally split basis. There is opportunity to generate extra revenue through services performed outside the clinic such as ER, Surgical assists, Maternity, Anesthetics, etc. This is all billed privately by the physician who keeps 100% of these earnings.

With a population of 23,000 and growing Fort St. John is the largest city in Northeastern BC with daily direct flights to Vancouver & Calgary. Fort St. John has a newly built hospital and care home facility, 4 mins from the clinic. We have in-town specialists including general surgery, internal medicine, OB/GYN, psychiatry, orthopedics, pediatrics plus a visiting specialist clinic including dermatology, ophthalmology, and rheumatology. There are also various other specialists available within the region of Northern BC

Qualifications:
  • Eligible for full or provisional family medicine license with CPSBC
  • Obstetric experience
  • Medical degree
  • - Obstetric Experience - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PAL) - Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) Eligible
Call Schedule:

Hours of work: 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday
On call requirements: Shared call for OB.

Compensation:
Estimated Gross Income

$480,000 (if also doing ER shifts, Surgical assists and Maternity, all of which are available)


RSA Incentives

- Retention Flat Fee: $33,628.80
- Retention Premium: 21.70%
- Recruitment Incentive: $20,000
- Relocation Funding: $9,000 to 15,000 (TBD)

The Fort St. John Hospital has 44 Acute Care beds and 124 residential beds and is equipped to handle 22,000 ER visits per year. Some more highlights about the hospital:
• Endoscopy suite, 2 state-of-the-art operating rooms,
plus a procedure room
• Ambulatory clinics including Cancer and Hemodialysis
• Medical and Surgical inpatient rooms (40 beds)
• 3 Intensive care units
• Minor surgeries
• 7 single Maternity rooms for Labour, Delivery, and Post-Partum
Fort St. John also has the Health Unit and Primary Care Clinic which serve the community.
