The city is also known as the Mile Zero City, as it marks the start of the Alaska Highway, a 2,400 km long highway connecting Alaska and the Yukon to Western Canada and the United States. Dawson Creek has a population of approximately 12,500. It provides primary service to a population of approximately 20,000 and helps serve the larger population of the Peace River Region of 60,000. Your opportunity to help build a robust Orthopaedic service in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, a vibrant city of 13,000 serving a catchment area of 70,000. We are seeking a General Orthopaedic Surgeon with skills in Primary THA and Primary TKA. You would also run a fracture clinic once a week. There is presently one Ortho in Fort St John (75 km away).

Dawson Creek has a new hospital build underway and we anticipate it opening in 2027. The new hospital will have an MRI.

Currently, Dawson Creek and District Hospital is a full service community hospital that provides service to Dawson Creek and surrounding communities. It has 31 acute care beds and 15 regional adult psychiatric beds. Services include:

• Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) - Eligible.
