Wide blue skies and the rolling foothills of the Northern Rockies surround Dawson Creek. The city is also known as the Mile Zero City, as it marks the start of the Alaska Highway, a 2,400 km long highway connecting Alaska and the Yukon to Western Canada and the United States. Dawson Creek has a population of approximately 12,500. It provides primary service to a population of approximately 20,000 and helps serve the larger population of the Peace River Region of 60,000. There are eleven elementary schools, one middle school and one secondary school. The Northern Lights College provides adult education.

Your opportunity to help build a robust Orthopaedic service in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, a vibrant city of 13,000 serving a catchment area of 70,000. We are seeking a General Orthopaedic Surgeon with skills in Primary THA and Primary TKA. You would also run a fracture clinic once a week. There is presently one Ortho in Fort St John (75 km away).
Dawson Creek has a new hospital build underway and we anticipate it opening in 2027. The new hospital will have an MRI.
Currently, Dawson Creek and District Hospital is a full service community hospital that provides service to Dawson Creek and surrounding communities. It has 31 acute care beds and 15 regional adult psychiatric beds. Services include:

Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME) available: Up to 2 years $1,800; In 3rd & 4th year $4,800; after 4 years $7,800. Moving allowance available: $15,000 if moving from outside of Canada; $12,000 if moving within Canada but outside of BC; $9,000 if moving within BC. Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) funding is subject to change without notice.
